“The eyes are the window to the soul. The ears are an extension of the mind, thus having direct access to the soul, another doorway.”
The soul is the collective of the mind, will, and emotions. What you choose to allow your eyes to devour is what you feed your mind, which affects your emotions, and eventually rules your will which become your choices. The cycle continues, forming habits, struggles, and strongholds. Do you struggle with a short fuse? Anger? Porn? Greed? Unforgiveness? Addiction? Food? This applies to every facet of your life. What are you feeding your soul? The people you choose to 'hang' with and spend the most time with, movies and TV shows, websites, reading books, the music you choose, the venues by which we feed our souls is too numerous to list.
“The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness! No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” Matthew 6:22-24 (KJV)
“But Peter and John gave them this reply. ‘You judge’, they said, ‘whether it’s right before God to listen to you rather than to God! As far as we’re concerned, we can’t stop SPEAKING about what we have SEEN and HEARD.’ Acts 4:19-20 New Testament for Everyone (NTE) Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.” 1 Corinthians 15:33 New King James Version (NKJV)
Take some time to honestly self-reflect upon your life. Look for personal behavior patterns and issues you struggle with. Look for relationship patterns that are unhealthy and destructive. Examine your parenting style, lifestyle choices, financial problems, etc. Those issues are directly influenced by the things you choose to do, thus creating habits, struggles, and strongholds. The flip side is that you can begin to feed your soul healthier things by intentionally and consistently, making new choices. Replace the content of nourishment and what grows will gradually transform you. You can't plant an apple orchard and expect to produce and eat oranges. Choose your influences and nourishment wisely. What goes in comes back out.
“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17 (NKJV) Be blessed and be a blessing. Agape Love is contagious.
